I'm working on a new project and I'm ecstatic to share it with friends and fellow social media folks. It's a project that involves a book, a website and more importantly, highlighting and telling the stories of awesome women across the U.S. involved in technology and social media.
Traveling around the country the last year and speaking at conferences and events, I've realized I didn't have many women role models in the tech and social media space. They were all guys. On one of my trips to a tech conference (SXSW Interactive), Sarah Evans and Sloane Berrent organized an event to honor a few women in tech (pictured above), which made me think about how I can help tell the story of the women who blazing their own trail in technology.
Role models are out there. We just rounded ‘em up.
Women in top technology positions are scarce – but they’re out there. They just need a safe space to rock out, rally the troops, and share success stories.
At Tech Mavens, we want to highlight the innovators. So we’ve launched a network for trailblazing women in the digital, social media and technology spheres.
It's a crashpad. A launchpad. An inspiration station, advice center, event hub and force for social change.
Let’s face it: we live, work and love online. It’s time to nominate our fearless leaders.
Watch this space for meet-ups in your area, professional snapshots and profiles, and ways to contribute to our forthcoming book.
Questions? Comments? Wild, unbridled geekery? Tell us about the wired-up women that get YOU fired up.

The event, dubbed Digitini, was organized by Sloane Berrent and Sarah Evans, and I was among some amazing women honored at the event including Cathy Brooks of Other Than That, Altimeter Group’s Charlene Li, CNN’s Jennifer Martin, Mashable’s Jolie O’Dell, Facebook’s Randi Zuckerberg, Porter Novelli’s Stephanie Agresta and PGi’s Jackie Yeaney.
